Occupant module 2012 Subaru Outback

Hi,

I have a 2012 Subaru Outback. It was in an accident and the seatbelt chime, passenger seat belt light and airbag light on the dashboard are on, even without an occupant. It also does not detect when an occupant is sitting in the seat, the airbag stays off. I have tried unplugging and taking the entire seat out and it did not work. Also tried to do a hard reset with the battery unplugged and still nothing. I have a feeling it might be the occupant detection module and hoping it isn’t the weight sensor. Wanting to know if you agree or have any other ideas?

Thank you!

Thank you for reaching out. Sounds like you did some of your homework. The first thing I would do is get the codes scanned. If it shows there is an issue with ODS module, I would try to recalibrate it first, If you do this, try 2 to 3 times. 1 time never really worked for me.

And you mean recalibrate with your service or how is that done?

After accident first thing is always to
1. Reset airbag module
2. Check seat belts, if they are locked then need to get seat belts repaired.

MyAirbags can do both, reset your airbag control module.

We can also rebuild your seat belt pretensioners.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Would be more then happy to answer them 😊
