Seat Belt Pretensioners Types
A pretensioner is a device that is connected to the safety belt buckle, safety belt retractor and/or an outboard lower safety belt anchor assembly. The pretensioner tightens the seat belt during certain crashes. Pretensioners may deploy with or without airbag deployment. Depending upon the vehicle, pretensioners may activate in certain frontal, side, rear and/or rollover crashes. For some vehicles pretensioners will deploy if the safety belt is buckled.
Buckle pretensioner uses a pyrotechnic gas generator to proper a piston that is attached to the safety belt buckle with a cable. The cable pulls the buckle down toward the seat tightening the belt.
Anchor pretensioner uses a pyrotechnic gas generator to propel a piston that is attached to the outboard lower safety belt anchor assebly with a cable. The cable pulls the anchor assembly down toward the floor tightening the belt.
Retractor pretensioner uses a pyrotechnic device that “backwinds” the retractor spool tightening the belt. Use the same precautions you would for the other SRS inflatable restraint components. There may be power to activate the pretensioner for a short time after the battery is disconnected or the ignition is turned off.

Proudly Made in America
No matter what color you choose for your seat belt replacement, the webbing is made in and assembled with the pretensioner in the USA. Aside from the benefit of helping the local economy, there are other benefits to using our seat belt services with Seat Belts that are Made in America. Many other companies will purchase seat belts that are made overseas in China because the cost may be lower. The problem with this is that most Chinese belts do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). From an aesthetic view, if you are replacing one belt with webbing meant to match what is in your vehicle, you may be disappointed to find that the thread colors from seat belts made in China often are not an exact match.
