i have a 2010 ford explorer with a B1085-EO code for "safety belt load limiter status". Is that the  belt retractor or the pretensioner in the buckle? everything seems to work fine.

I would send both its still considered one seatbelt . Its hard to do diagnostic over internet. But their is  different ways to tell if seat belt pretensioner is good or bad. Some pretensioners have small metal balls inside, when the pretensioner is bad you will hear the balls inside rattling. For other seat belt pretensioners there is really no way to know by looking at it. Best way is to measure OHM resistance at the plug of the pyro sensor (electrical plug). Good seat belt would show resistance between 2-3 OHMs. If you are not seeing these numbers then seat belt pretensioner is bad.

Hope it helps.  Let me know if you got any more questions.
