If I disconnect the battery to remove the seatbelt, will that erase my EDR?

When you say EDR what are you referring to the airbag control module?

Disconnecting the battery is okay it will not erase or mess up the air bag control module.

It's a 2018 Hyundai Sonata.  My wife was rear-ended.  I'm talking about the "black box" which records the information about the crash.  I think sometimes it's separate and sometimes a part of the ACM.  I just want to make sure that if I disconnect the battery to remove the seatbelts to send them in, I won't somehow "erase" any data that might be needed if this crash becomes a legal fight.

If you car was in an accident and your seat belt locked.  Send it in. Yes disconnect the battery before unplugging SRS control module.
