reinstalling the airbag control module (ACM, RCM, SDM)

PHIL M

When reinstalling the airbag control module (ACM, RCM, SDM) do I need to reinstall the seats and connect electrical wires to them before reconnecting the module? If so can I remove the seats after reinstalling the center console which is bolted in with the rear seat bolts? Thanks in advance.

It is always best to re-install the airbag control module last, after all, bad airbags, seat belts, and impact sensors are replaced/connected. Make sure the battery is disconnected any time you are working on SRS system components, not to trip the light because it will store a soft code for the part that was not connected or plugged in properly. If you need to work on the seats, no problem just disconnect the battery and make sure everything is reconnected before you reconnect the battery. Worst case scenario is that you will have an airbag light on and you will need to use a diagnostic scan tool to clear airbag codes.
