and was wondering - how can I check whether the module is really fried? It is not detected by the car and has correct data on its chip. I've got multimeter.

Normally if the issue you are having is a communication issue and all the fuses are good and you are not having a power or ground issue. More than likely it's a faulty module. We don't do any internal repairs on airbag control modules. What we do is erase crash data that is part of a reset service. Sorry about the issues you are having
