At the track, the speed, elevation, and g-forces caused a false "crash detection" response from my 2015 Ford Fiesta ST. This is a bit of a safety issue, as it killed power and almost got be hit by fast approaching cars on the track.
After some research, I have learned that unplugging the RCM will disable crash detection. I'm okay with the lack of airbags, as this is a track only car with a roll bar and harness.
But, does removal of the RCM also mean the high and low pressure fuel pumps will not deactivate in a crash?
Thank you for contacting us. That is a possibility after an accident the fuel might not shut off if the RCM is disconnected.
Do you know if the removal of the RCM also disables traction control, stability control, and/or torque vectoring?
If the EBCM uses specific information from the RCM it can affect it.
