Can you make a video in how to remove the airbag light in a Toyota Highlander Hybrid (2021)? Of course after taking care of the problem. My case was about replacing airbag and producing Open in D Squib (Dual Stage - 2nd Step) Circuit B1811.
My car was in an accident, I believe we fixed the issues, question, we always need to replace the module? And second, if the answer is yes, why the Toyota dealer didn’t find the problem with the module? Thanks
For Toyota vehicles it is easy if the vehicle was not in an accident and the airbag control module is good, then as soon as you fix the code that you are getting, in your case is seat belt pretensioner code, the airbag light will turn off next time you start your vehicle or turn the ignition on. So if your vehicle was not in an accident and the light came on one day and you get the system scanned to see what the DTC codes are and for example, it's a bad seat belt or connection problem. After you fix that problem, the light will turn off without doing anything additional. This works like that with most Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC vehicles.
Yes, when the vehicle is in an accident it will have crash history, also known as crash data. The airbag control module needs to be replaced or crash history needs to be reset to use the same airbag control module. For Toyota vehicles, it is a little tricky because not always it will show crash codes. For these vehicles, you will have NO fault codes for srs airbag, but the airbag light will still be on. That is how you will know the airbag module has crash codes. For other vehicles like GM, Ford, BMW you will actually have a DTC code that says crash history data is full. For rebuilders that deal with Toyota, and after you do a few rebuilds you will quickly figure out that if your vehicle was in an accident and you have no codes and the light still stays on, then the airbag control module needs to be reset.
hanks, I just wonder why the Toyota dealer was not able to detect the module issue. Are you sure that the problem is not a pretensioner sensor?
If you are getting a code for the seat belt, then the problem is still with the seat belt. After you get that fixed, you will still have a light on and when you scan for codes, you will not have any codes. At that point when you have no codes and your light is on then it's the airbag control module problem because it will have crash history. We can reset the airbag control module.
how much is to fix the module? Where is located on Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2021?
It is $54 to reset the airbag control module. It is located under the radio on the floor. To get to it, go thru the side where the brake and gas pedal is.
please “share your company link”. Also, how can I be sure the lights (airbags and check engine) will go away after the module is fix and replace? Remember this is a Highlander Hybrid 2021. According to other sources, they must go but no Toyota Code mentioned the module.
