2017 vw jetta can reset the module?

Melvin

2017 vw jetta My car battery went dead. When the battery was replaced, the airbag light stayed on. I took it to the dealer who said the airbag module needed to be replaced. They had to order the part ( it has not yet been installed). The airbag light is now off.

The car has not been involved in an accident , flooded or otherwise damaged. About 40k miles

Questions: (1) is it possible for the light to be off if there is a problem with the system?
(2) if you can reset the module, does it need to be replaced at all?

Hope you are well!

To answer your first question I do not believe it is possible to have the airbag light off if the system is having issues.

Also the reset service is only successful if the vehicle has been involved in an accident with deployment and has crash data is stored inside the module.

Thank you for reaching out hope this answered some of you questions!
