We have a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu LS 4 cylinder. When we installed a new battery, the 'Service Airbag' lit up. We had it assessed/scanned at a Chevy dealership who provided this:
'CODE B101D set current. Attempt to program SDM. Will not program. Followed DIAG procedures and found internal fault with SDM'.
Dealership is telling us we need a new module and it needs to be programmed. An expensive fix. What is your recommendation?
Thank you.
If there is an internal fault in the module then you do need to replace it. The part can be either new or used as long as it fits your vehicle and it will have to be programmed to your VIN. Before you purchase it used, make sure you call around and check to see who can program the airbag module for you. We do not keep any parts in stock and we cannot do any programming here.
We apologize for the inconvenience!
Thank you!
Do you have any idea where we can purchase a used module?
You can try looking on Ebay, LKQ r a junk yard for a used module or brand new through the dealership. Please keep in mind, you will also need to get it programmed to your VIN.
Thank you!
