I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner that I had to buy a new OEM Air Bag Control Module(OEM part number8L8Z-14B321-C) . It is brand new and has neven been in a vehicle before. I have been told that it needs to be programmed to recognize the vin of the vehicle. My question is what will happen if I install it without programming it to my vehicle. Will the airbags deploy/not deploy in an accident? Will the airbag light stay on.?

Hello,
If you do not get it programmed, your vehicle won't recognize the module and your airbag system will not work properly in the event of an accident. You will need to get it programmed by a dealership.
