2002 Ford mustang resetting airbags after an accident

I'm confused. I had a 20 mph fender bender on my 2002 Ford mustang. And passenger and driver airbags deployed. I need to replace them. When I do that, do they need to also be reset? You talk about resetting airbags after an accident, but is that necessary if replacing the whole airbag?? Thank you

Yes, although the airbag(s) was replaced, the airbag module still needs to be reset. but not the actual airbags. The bags themselves are plug and play. Only the module will need a reset. That module is storing vehicle accident-related codes and will cause your airbag light to stay on and the codes will not be able to be cleared. Once a reset is done on the airbag module, your light will be off, and your codes are now capable of being erased. We reset all fault codes and check to ensure that there are no other problems with the module.  MyAirbags can clear crash data and crash codes and airbag control can be used again.
Your original module would not need to be VIN programmed because it already has the correct VIN stored.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

Your airbag module is located under the radio, on the floor.

Where is the modular located? Inside the airbag itself? Or outside?

I'm looking to buy another airbag for driver and passenger sides.

Thx
