1997 BMW M3 E36 airbag light is on

I have a 1997 BMW M3 E36 sedan that is a salvage title that I am restoring. I don’t have a complete car history, but Carfax tells it was in at least one accident. I recently rebuilt the instrument cluster and found out a previous owner had taped over the inside of the airbag light. Now that I can see the airbag light is on, I bought a cheap B800 SRS Scan Tool on eBay to troubleshoot as well as a seat occupancy bypass. The bypass did not resolve. The tool tells me 02 / 1A which according to the manual is “seat occupancy detector, passenger: Coding data.” I’m pretty sure the passenger seat in my M3 is NOT original - probably from a non-M 3-series as they don’t have the M stitching. Will your reset service resolve this issue? Thanks, and let me know if you need any other information.

Sorry to tell you no it won't. All we do is erase crash codes and check for communication. When issues like this exist it's better to find the actual issue. If the code is coming from the SRS module and everything checks out then the module will need to be replaced.
